Today in class I was
very nervous because I had to do a presentation and I’m so good at doing that.
I get so red when I get up there because when it’s my turn to say something I feel
like everyone is looking at me and thinking what I’m saying and if it makes
since. I even sometimes shake a little because I am so nervous. But thank God I
didn’t go today someone else went. I felt so relaxed when I didn’t get to go
up. But the other people did so good on their presentations about different world
leaders for different countries. The countries that went today was Mexico,
Germany, Brazil, India, Iraq, and Canada. The country I am doing is China. Hopefully my partner and I go last tomorrow
even though the class is last tomorrow. I actually can’t wait to get this over
with and be done with it.

World leader and Pop Quiz
Today in class I had my pop quiz. I kind of forgot to study one part of it but I think I did well. I did the limiting process on the questions I didn't know so well or I just winged it. I know your not supposed to wing it but I'll learn my lesson. I am also doing this blog in class because our teacher was nice enough to let us do that. Although he accidently spilt some coffee on a paper and I laughed, I don't think he liked that so sorry teacher. Anyway here is something interesting I learned about different countries.
Mexico , the type of government is federal republic, the leaders is Enrique Pena Nieto.
China , the type of government is Communist state, the leader is Premier LI Keqiang

Pop Quiz and New Section
Today in Human Geo our teacher was going to give us a pop quiz but he decided to give us a night to study. I was thinking in my head then this really isn't a pop quiz but I didn't want to say it just in case he would change his mind. At least I have a night to study and maybe get my grade higher. Anyway the subject is the Five Major Religions, this is what is going to be on the pop quiz. We highlighted our notes for what is on the quiz and took new notes on a new section. The new section is about Culural Characteristics. The notes we took was about Language and Ethnic Heritage. Luckily there is a power point on a website that we can look at because he went fast today and my notes isn't that good. I don't do well when people talk about things fast and I have to write it down. I could never be a short hand person back in the day.

A Group Project On Isis
Today in class we were in groups coming up
with ideas to solve problems with Isis. These are some ideas we came up with
- Have background checks on ALL Syrian refugees before they enter the country (something like Ellis Island)
- We should have American spies of Syrian decent go undercover into ISIS and earn themselves a spot high in the ranks
- This may involve leading an attack, but they could relay info to the area before the attack so people could be safe
- Every airplane, train, or ship (even private) that comes into port has to be checked by another countries' personnel
- It's a worldwide problem, so the United States military needs to help with a worldwide solution and not just worry about themselves
After we came up with those ideas we talked
about Isis. We decided to go on the internet and look up things about why Isis
might do the things they do and here is what we came across.
About ISIS:
- Taking after Bin Laden
- Motive: The Muslims holy book tells them to fight Christians and Jews until they submit to the Muslim religious tax that is required for everyone living in a Muslim state, even if they don't follow Muslim law
- Funding: Donations Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Arab bank accounts, Iraqi extremist groups are taking advantage of Kuwait's weak financial state and are using it as a financial and organizational hub
- Officially broke from al Qaeda

What a Video We Watched
Today was so
much fun and very sad at the same time. The first topic was checking the
answers to the last huge blog I posted. I believe I got all of it right but I am
human so I could have gotten some wrong. It looked like the majority of the class did
awesome on the assignment. The next thing we talked about and watched was about
this little girl and how her life changed in a year. I saw a lot could happen
in one year and that you should live life while you can. The video should how a
war came into this little girls’ life but just flashes of the year you saw and
had to figure out what was happing. The video gave you hits leading up to the
war but you really had to pay attention to the video to see it. When we talked
about it, it was very interesting of what people thought of it. Overall the
class was fun and I learned a lot.

The Fifth Religion and Paris
Today in class my
teacher was finally back for class. We learned about the final religion which
is Judaism. They are called Jews and there is 14- 18 million (ninth place) who
are believers. They are usually in Israel and their founder is Abraham. Their
holy book is the Talmud or Torah. It’s the first five books in the Old
Testament. The first five are the Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, numbers, and the
last one is Deuteronomy. They believe the Ethical monotheism and that’s means
God is one and concerned with the actions of Human kind. They also fallow the
Ten Commandants, and the thirteen principles of Faith.
The next topic
was about Paris and about what happen at the 13th of November 2015.
It was horrible and my whole class felt bad for those people who were injured
and killed. We even felt bad for those were not even involved that night because
we knew they were scared too. I would like to say that it will get better in
the future and that I will pray for Paris.

The Huge Blog
Today sadly
our teacher was absent today at school so my blog is so long today, so I hope
you’re in the mood to read and learn some things like I did. The first thing I have
learned is from the World Fact Book about the five major religions. Christian is
31.4%, Muslim is 23.2%, Hindu is 15%, Buddhist is 7.1%, and the last one is
Jewish is 0.2%. These percepts are worldwide so that how many people believe
that religion in the world according to the World Fact Book. Another interesting
fact about religions is Abraham’s effect on three religion. The first religion
is Judaism and they call Abraham the first Jew, Father of Judaism, and the Jews
father of Covent. He also has a special relationship with God and people. The
second religion that Abraham has an effect on is Christianity. His effect is
that his a Patron Saint of those in the hospital industry, he is in the calendars
of Saints, and Christians call him “Our father in faith”. The final religion is Islam and his effect in
this religion is that he is mentioned in thirty-five chapters in the Quran. For
those who don’t know what a Quran is, it is their Holy Book. Some other effects
he is the first Pioneer of Islam and had a purpose and mission that took his
whole life. His purpose/mission was to proclaim the Oneness of God. They also
called him “Abraham the Friend”.
A little
later in class we had to do some research about the practice of indulgences and
why we thought Martin Luther objected to indulgences. Indulgences is a way to
add the amount of punishment one has to undergo for sins. To do this you could either
make your sin forgiven or you go to Purgatory after you die. But before this happens
you could say a specific prayer or visiting a particular place. You say the
prayer once or many times, or you could do a specific work that is good. Now
Martin Luther objected this because he was taught salvation all his life and he
thought you only get forgiveness is from God’s grace through faith. You didn’t
need to do good work if you had faith in God and that’s how you redeem from
sin. I have also found this in Wikipedia.org for the research part.
Two more
things I had learned today was about Haji and the Four Vedic texts in use by
Hindus. Haji is a Muslim who went on a pilgrimage to Macca. It is also use as a
term by a lot of people towards Arabs and Muslims in general. The four Vedic texts are The Rig-Veda, The
Yajur-Veda, Sama Veda, and finally Atharva-Veda. The Rig-Veda is the most
important and the oldest of the Vedas according to schoolers. The Rig-Veda is
also divided into ten books. The second text is The Yajur-Veda and it is used
for priestly handbook used for the performance of Sacrifices. This has four
books but is divided into two sections. The first section is the earlier
section which is black and the second section is the more recent one ad that is
white. The third is Sama-Veda and it consists of chants to be sung during worship
and the performance of sacrifices. Lastly the Atharva-Veda and this is hymns most
importantly four books. There are also four types of composition or divisions.
The first half deals with performance of sacrificial rituals and the second
part consists of philosophy. Over all even though this was a lot of information
I’m happy I learned a lot.

(Here is a picture of what a Haji looks like.)

Buddhism
Today we
learned more about the Five Major Religions, but only one because we were
talking about it so much and classes where shorter today. The religion we
talked about today was Buddhism and the people are called Buddhists. There are 500
million to 1.5 billion people who believe who are Buddhism and estimates quite
a bit. The founder of this Religion is named
Siddhartha Gautama and made the Four Noble truths. The first one is there is no
suffering. Second is Attachment to desire is the origin of suffering. The third
one is there is a cessation of suffering. The final one is the Eight Fold Path
will lead to the cessation of suffering. We also learned about the Eight Fold
Path. The Eight Fold Path is Right view, right intention, right speech, right action,
right livelihood, right effort, right Mindfulness, right Dedication. I learned
so much about this religion and I hope you learned some too from this blog.

Five Major Religions
In class we
learned about the Five Major Religions in the world. The only thing is that we
ran out of time today to learn about all five. One of the religions though is
Christianity. Christianity is the world’s largest religions in the world it has
2.2 billion people in its religion. The people are called Christians and their
belief is that Jesus is the Son of God, He is born without sin, and is
crucified then is rose from the dead later. The founder is Jesus Christ and the
Holy book is The Bible. The next Religion is Islam which is the second biggest
religion with 1.5 billion people. Those people are called Muslims and they
believe in Muhammad, Abrahamic, and Five Pillars. Their founder is Muhammad who
lived 570-632 and their holy book is the Qur’an. The final Religion we learned
today is Hinduism which is the third largest with 1.1 billion people. They are
called Hindus and they believe in “as a person puts on new clothes and discards
old and torn up clothes, similarly an embodied soul enters new material bodies
leaving the old bodies.” In other words reincarnation. Their founder is no
distinct founder because is probably the oldest religion and their holy book is
called the Vedas eternal truths revealed to ancient sages composed in verse
formed. I can’t wait to learn more about religions next class.

Reviewing the Test
Today I
got my test back and I thought I could have done better on it. I would have
like my score to be a little higher but my teacher made a mistake and so will
change the grades and my score will be higher. So since I’m talking about
scores it was because we were going over the test we had yesterday. No offence
to my teacher but I’m happy he made the mistake because of my grade and
everyone else was happy about his mess up. Another thing we did in class was
doing our blog which I’m doing right now. This is why he is one of favorite
teachers in my school he makes the class fun and funny, picks on people but in
a fun way, and he even lets us watch a video in the middle of the class since
his class is long. Anyway I can’t wait for Monday because that’s the time I have
his class.

The Test In Human Geo.
The test was
today and I think that this test was not that hard. The test was about Japan,
Africa, and India. Thankfully the test was all multiply choice and no short
answer questions. One of the questions was hard but I think I got it right.
Since this is the first test for the second quarter hopefully my grade will be
a good grade and keep being a good grade. Plus if I keep blogging and taking good
notes and study then my grades will stay high. Also today in class since the
test was short I got to do this blog in class so I wouldn’t forget. My teacher
is nice for letting me and everyone else do something else after everyone was
done the test. He even let us use some of our pass blogs to help for the test which
helped so I could check and not get the answer wrong. Over all I’m happy about
my answers and think I did great.

How I Feel About The Test And Today
Today
instead of having the test we were supposed to have instead we reviewed some
more. I’m glad we didn’t have the test today, not that I didn’t study I did I’m
just happy I have one more night to look over things. I also more test for other
classes which is tuff but I’ll get through it I’m just glad I can review because
I wasn’t sure of things for the test. My teacher is the best for doing this for
us because I don’t think the whole class was ready for this also. Our class was
thankful for our teacher for doing this and he was happy that he did for us because
he likes it when people get great grades and he said hopefully this will help
our grade since he is pushing it back a day. Can’t wait to get the test over
with and to see my grade when I finish.

Wierd Vidoes and Review for Test
Today
was very interesting and weird but mostly weird. In the beginning of class since
our class won we watch three short videos that was funny and disturbing. The
first video we watch was very weird probably the weirdest video I ever saw. It
had a sheep then it morph into a weird creature then into crazy things that don’t
exist but looked so disturbing. The second video had cows and the morph into a
spiders and cows combined into each other, it was very wild. The last video was
bears at a beach and at a road. There
was a pattern that went along and more crazy stuff happened that turned into a
pattern. The bears were really cute though. The rest of class we were reviewing
our notes for our test that’s on Wednesday. Hopefully the test won’t be as hard
as the last one that I took.

My Feelings on the Video I Had Watched and China
I have so
much to share today about class. We finished watching the video I have been
talking about in my passed blogs. I thought that the video was very educational
to me because it showed me what’s going on in the world and how women are
treated. Lots of places over the world women don’t have enough power to speak their
minds and men rule them or men are in charge of what they do. I felt really bad
for them and how they are treated. Our class was also talking about how in
china in the city you it is legal to have two children now. I’m so happy for
them because now the population will go up a lot because there is lots of
elders. Now that people can have more kids when their parents get old their kids
can help them. Over all I thought class when well and I am looking forward for
the next class.

How To Help A Person Life Be Better
A few days
ago my teacher talked about this website called Kiva.org and I’m going to tell
you some things about it. First of all this website is for people who need
money for important things and they don’t have enough money for it. There are
over hundreds stories of people looking for loans to grow business or switch to
clean energy, and even go to school. This website you can make a loan to the
borrower of your choice and you get repaid by that person. You can even repeat what
you did and when you get your money back you can look for another person and
give the same money and loan that money to them. This website in my opinion is
a great website. They do pay you back and you can see how long it would take
also.
While I was
on this Website I found a woman named Jeannette. She is forty-six years old, a
mother to five children, and married. She has three girls and two boys.
Jeannette has been selling clothing, shoes and bags for a while. She has been
doing that for more than twenty years with some help, they all work as
retailers. This group is here to help support the members and to provide a
system of peer pressure. Once Jeannette
gets the money she will use her loan to by many bags, a large amount of
clothing, and five boxes of shoes. When she gets the money her profits will
help her to provide for day to day expresses, healthcare and schooling for her
children. She lives in Senegal it is the westernmost point in Africa. This country
is slightly smaller the South Dakota and it is mainly low-lying country, with a
semideseart area in the north and northeast and forests in the southwest.
Another
person I have found is Eugenia. She is forty-three years old and is a single
mother. She lives with her daughter Maritza and her granddaughter Britani.
Britani is five years old and is going to the local public school where they
live. Eugenia needs this money because she needs to expand her business and
make more money in order to cover her household’s basic needs. Her business is
at a small stall at a town market, where she sells food like fruit and
vegetables. She has been doing this for over twenty-six years because this is
her only source of income. Eugenia lives in Tulsan, Ecuador which in this region
generally lacks access to financial services. This loan is made to help these
vulnerable populations improve their lives and set up sustainable businesses.
Now
that I saw these people I see how the world can be so difficult for people and
how their lives in where they live can be tough to live there. I think this
website is the best for those people and I bet they feel the same way about
this website like I do. Without this website or any other website like this their
live would be more difficult for them. So I will definitely loan money to these
people and more to help them out because if I was in their shoes I know I hope
people would make loans.

More about India and how they Treat Women
Today in class was so much fun. Our
class still watched the same video but we talked more about it and I learned
more things about it. One of the things I learned was in India that they made a
law that Pre-Natural sex determination (boy or girl before births not done. It
is a punishable act. This law isn’t only in India, it is also in many other
countries but the video just mainly focus on India. Knowing this now bothers me
because I thought that it was so strange to hear that as a law in some
countries. Speaking about India the video said that teaching girls proper jobs
or training girls other things will make them more valuable in the family and
show men that girls aren’t just baby making machines. Over all I think this
video teaches us so much more about what’s going on in the world and how so
lucky I am to live where I do and have a great school education.

Things i have learn about Japan and India
In class
today my teacher was enough to let us watch a video and pause at the spot we
need to know. Thank you teacher by the way that help a lot. Anyway we were learning
about Japan and India and about their population. For example Japan population
is expected to drop by half of its population by the next century. This is because
one out of three people will retire and that elders over sixty outnumbers kids
under four. In India there is Taj Mahal a famous building that was made for a thirty
year old woman who died by giving birth to her eight child. In a state called
Uttar Pradesh and it is normal in that state women will give birth too many
kids so they can have boys. They do this because when you get old and you’re a boy
later in life you will take care of your family and when you’re a girl you be
married off and leave the family to take care of your husband family. The men
will make their wives have many babies even if they almost die and if not they
will hurt them. The men don’t even get in trouble for this which I think is so
wrong. They also have many kids because one to every ten kids die before age
five. The women also have no saying in
most of their life. They have arrange marriage and when they are married their
husband will say how many kids because what I have said before about boys.

The Big Test
Today
was the day, it was the big test day. Now I’m not going to lie I know I didn’t get
a hundred percent, but hey I tried. The multiple choice questions weren’t as
hard as I thought it was. The hardest part of the test was the first part. Yes I
know it’s not good to say that but OMG it was hard. We had ten minutes to find
ten questions on the first part. I tried I did but on the website I didn’t know
where everything was. I hope that’s the last time for a test we have to do
somethings like that. On a different part of the test you had to write three
different things for a question and I really didn’t know it so I doodled on the
test to help me think. I do that on a lot of tests I just hope the teacher doesn’t
mind. I’m so happy I got that test over with and hopefully it won’t do
something major on my grade.

Fellings About The Test
On Thursday
we will have a test and our teacher said it will be really hard. I’m going to
study so much and do my best on the test. The test is about Globalization,
Population & Migration, and the CIA World Fact book. I’m feeling good about
the globalization part of the test because I feel like that’s the easiest part
of the test. But my teacher did say that it could be hard because I have to
fill in the blank. The part I don’t look forward to is the World Fact book because
we only have ten minutes to find certain things in the site and the amount of
questions is a lot. The Population and Migration part will be okay it’s like in
the middle of what I’m worried about for the test. Over all I think I’m going
to do good on the test and be happy with the grade I will get.

Things About The World You May Not Know
Today in class I have learned so much more about the world
and other places compared to us. One of the things I have learned is that the
US doesn’t have the greatest number of cellular phones in the world. The
country that is number one is actually China and the US is the fifth. I was a little shocked because I thought the
US would be the second or third but not fifth. Another interesting thing I have
learned is that China has the most users with access to the internet then the
US by a long shot. I have also learn that some internet things are blocked in
china and you can only be on that website in the US like Facebook. In China
people can’t go on Facebook, but they have a website just like. I’m so happy
that I learned so much more today. I think it will come in handy later in life especially
because the world is changing so fast so much. Probably in ten years so many
new things will come into our lives and I can’t wait.

This is what i learned about and Population
Migration, what a topic, am I right? Well Friday that’s all
we talked about and I got to learn so much more about it. For example Net
Migration Rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and
leaving a country during the year. An important thing a have learned is that net
immigration is an excess of persons entering the country and net emigration
is an excess of persons leaving the country. I have also learned that
some people migrate here at the USA because there is economic opportunity and
better health services. There is even freedom of religion and freedom of political
here.
Another topic
we discussed in class is about population. Did you know that for the population
to remain the same the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) must be 2.1? I also learned that higher than 2.1 the population
rises. But if lower than 2.1 population fails, which I thought was very interesting.
The world TFR is 2.42 but US TFR is 2.01 and last year it 2.06. I learned so
much on Friday and I can’t wait to learn more next class.

Population and Settlement
In class
today I have learned about the population. Did you know that there are over
seven billion people on our planet right now? It also increasing by over
seventy-three million per year and 140 per minute. The really cool thing is
that 90% of this population growth takes place in developing countries of
Africa, South and East Asia, and Latin America. Another thing I learned today
is that crude birth rate is the number of births per 1000 of the population and
the crude death rate is the number of deaths per 100 of the population. But maybe
in twenty or thirty years people will have trouble with water. An interesting thing
I have learned about is that Rate of Natural Increase (RN) is produced by subtracting
the death rate from birth. This gives us the annual growth rate in percentage
from – for a country or region. Today I have learned a lot about the world that
I call my home and I’m so happy to know more about it.

Pros and Cons about Globalization
In Class today I have learned that globalization isn't all good. Globalization Is the "natural" expression of the modern international capitalism which is a good thing. The bad thing is, is that globalization is a policy promoted by core countries and it returns in inequities between "haves" and "have nots" which is very bad. Now that I know globalization is not always so good I feel bad for the people on the bad side of it. Fore example the wealth will "trickle down" from rich to poor. But it's not working in the last twenty years, the rich countries have grown richer, while the poor have become more impoverished.
I feel so sorry for the people who have it bad in globalization.
Now that I know more about both sides of globalization I can so much more about
it now. I can’t wait to learn more tomorrow about it so that I can tell more
people and know what they think about it.

Important things that make up Globalization.
Communication has played a large role in cultural
globalization. News and information travels instantly around the world the
internet. People can get the news from their phones or laptops in no time. Travel
has also helped globalization grow. So many people move so much because of jobs
and vacations to different countries each year. Even Popular Culture has become
more globalized. Lots of people in the U.S reading Japanese comic books and
some like listening to South Africa music. Let’s not forget clothes. Lots of
cloth styles have also become more uniform. The economy has also become a huge
thing in globalization. Around the world international trade is so important to
the economies of most counties. The last thing is politics because many
counties work together to allow the movement of money and people so the
economic globalization is working. This is what I have learned today in class
and I cannot wait to learn more.

More about Globalization
Today
I have learned more about globalization. One way of globalization is the Silk
Road. It was a huge group of trade routes connecting the markets of different
places lie Asia with Arabia, the Mediterranean, and eastern Africa. The routes
are still used today but was established as early as the first century BCE (Before
Common Era). Globalization process has also spread with religious faiths too,
even far beyond the faith origin areas. For example Roman Catholicism that
developed in the Mediterranean region, but is now is overpowering religion of
the Philippines. The last thing I learned
today as about Americanization. There is a lot of things that we have here that
are now in china for instance China has KFC and McDonald’s. That is
Americanization or the exporting of American brands or consumer goods. The
thing about globalization is that it is such a great thing and will expand in
the future just like most things now.

Globalization
In
my Human Geography class on Friday we learned about globalization.
Globalization is when all around the world connects. The history about
globalization is very long because it’s been around for so many years. For
example in Britain they supplied cotton for British merchants and traders. When
Europeans began establishing colonies overseas, globalization grew then too. Although
it sped up dramatically in the twentieth century because of proliferation in
the air. Phones is a big part in globalization then you may think. About 60
percent of people use their phones in the world. Because there is internet on
phones now news can spread so quickly these days. Through
globalization so many people can beware of so many things about all over world
in seconds because of technology now. Another big thing for globalization is international
travel. Millions of people each year move internationally for jobs or schools.
These are just some small things that make globalization such a big deal in our
life and there are so many more.

The Test
Today
I had a test and it wasn't as hard or as long as I thought it was. It was
about A Message to Garcia and about Socrates life. I felt good about the
test when I saw the questions and thought to myself oh wow this isn’t that bad.
There were some multiple choice, fill in the blank, and even two essays. The
multiple choice wasn’t hard, but I did have trouble with one. When I got to the
fill in the blank questions I was like oh yea I’m flying though this test. The
questions weren’t as bad as the one essay I had to do. Finally when I got to the
two essays questions I was thought to myself yes I’m almost done this test. The
first essay I had to talk about what the question meant to me and explain the
meaning. The other essay I had to describe Socrates trial and death which wasn’t
hard because I studied that most. Over all the test went great and I think I did amazing on it.

More About Socrates
Today in school I learned more about the great man Socrates. When he was a young man he worked as a stonemason and he even met young students outside the agora. An agora is a gathering place, assembly, and a market place. Socrates also fought heroically in the Peloponnesian War. Because of that this may have shaped the way he viewed the world. He also would make people think deeper about their thoughts by asking a series of questions to determine their beliefs and the extent of their knowledge. This later led to the Scientific method. Then later Socrates was charged with two crimes. His crimes was not believing in the gods of the state and making people think different about the world and what they thought. For his defense he said that it was his job to that and that he should be rewarded for what he is doing. But unfortunately he was found guilty and sentence to death.

Learning about Socrates
In school today I learned so much. The main thing I learned
is more about Ancient Greece and more things about Socrates. One new thing I
have learned about Socrates is that he had very good communication skills and
he will keep asking you questions break it down and then you would find your
answer in those responses this was known as the Socratic Method. Socratic sadly
had a painful death because of he made people think in a different way liked
how I talked about earlier. He was sentence to death and was put in prison for
a few days until he died. He could avoided his death if he deserted his
teaching and minded his own business. The way he died was he had to drink this
poison called hemlock. In my mind I thought Socrates was an amazing guy. He had a way of thinking that pretty much no else did back then. He was very smart because of how he thought about things and how he helped people think about things.

Learning about the Ancient Greece
In class today we were learning about the Ancient Greece. I have learned many things and surprising things. One of the things I have learned today was a word called agora. Agora is a public space used for assemblies or markets back in the very old days. A surprising thing I have learned is when they called someone an idiot it meant something totally different from the meaning we use today. It meant someone wasn't voting and that person was publicly labeled an idiot. This was when the inventors of democracy made a law that required every person to vote. Another thing I thought was interesting
was that the word polis means that it is an a city state in Ancient Greece, especially as considered in it's ideal form for philosophical purpose. Over all I thought that learning more about the Ancient Greece is pretty awesome because I got to learn about the history of the world and I can't wait to learn more in class.

Learning more about A Message to Garcia
Since we read A Message to Garcia in class the other day we took some notes and learned more about the story and the author. The author is Elbert Hubbard and he published his story in March 1899. The story was so successful because it sold 48 million copies. They made it in 37 different languages so almost everyone can read it since it was selling so well. Then in 1916 it was made into a movie, which is so crazy that they could make it into a movie because the story was only two pages when the author wrote it. Then in 1936 it was made into a movie again!! Since the story was so amazing the named a mountain after one of the characters named McKinley until they re- named the mountain to its original name. Another thing about the story was that it took place in the Spanish American war. After learning more about the story I am happy for Elbert because of what a great job he did on this story.

Five things to be sucessful in Freshman Year
Since I am at high school at John Carroll I thought of
five ways to do well in High School for freshman year. The first thing I am going to do is to
focus on my school work and not get distracted. If I do get distracted I will remind myself that I have to my homework and study if I need to. To be successful I am going to
try to get great grades so I can go to a great college in the future. I will
try my hardest in everything I do and get into clubs to meet new people. The fourth way I am going to do in high school is to ask questions when I need to and no to be shy. I will even go to the teacher after school and ask more questions if I forgot to ask one in class. The last thing I will do is to be myself. I chose this because to many people change themselves and you should be happy who you are. I am happy for who I am so this year I'm going to be and not somebody who I'm not.

A Message to Garcia
Today in class I read a little story called A Message to Garcia, By: Elbert Hubbard in 1899. While I was reading I came across some words that I wasn't familiar with here are some of the words. One of the words is perihelion and I found out that means at a specific time in the orbit in which a planet or comet at its nearest point to the sun. Another word was imbecility and the meaning of that is stupidity or at a point of being weak. Later in the story I came across a word that is memorandum and I had no idea what it means until later and that word means a reminder or a little note that reminds you of something whether it's a small reminder or a big reminder. When I finally understood what these words meant I re-read the story and understood more and I wasn't that confused anymore. Over all I found out it's cool to look up words you don't know so you can expand your vocabulary.

First couple of day at High School
My first couple of days at The John Carroll High School were very exciting. I felt so happy to be going to a new school and experiencing new things there. At first I was nerves because it was a new school but then as the day went by I got comfortable. When I went to different classes I was happy to meet my teachers for the year and meet new people that where going to be in my classes. As I meet new people we began to talk so I got to know them better and soon became friends. The next day I didn't feel nerves at all and I couldn't wait to arrive at school and start the day. I felt very good the next day because I kind of knew where I was going so I wasn't that worried I was going to be late for a class. I am definitely happy I choose this school and I'm looking forward to my next four years here.
